APPLETON, Wis. — Appleton International Airport is undergoing a $66 million-dollar expansion.
The project is on pace to be finished by the 2025 NFL Draft next April, which is expected to attract close to a million football fans to Green Bay.
The expansion will double the airport’s size. It includes added gates, a biergarten, an additional restaurant and bar, expanded restrooms, a sensory support room, a quiet room and service animal relief area.
“We’re trying to bring this project online as quick as possible,” said Appleton airport director Abe Weber. “We’ve seen significant growth from our airport and so the primary objective is to be able to accommodate that growth, elevate our customer experience, get ready for new growth. And certainly, the NFL draft is a cherry on top.”
Weber said Appleton International Airport is the fastest growing airport in Wisconsin. It’s served by American, Delta, United and Allegiant Airlines.
He said the new terminal is estimated to create 5,000 jobs in total.
