MILWAUKEE — Marquette University on Tuesday night revealed several initiatives to honor its former President Michael R. Lovell, who died this past weekend after a struggle with cancer.
His loss has been felt heavily throughout the community.
Here are the upcoming initiatives:
Rosary
Date & Time: June 13 at 10 a.m.
Location: Marian Grotto behind St. Joan of Arc Chapel
A rosary will be said for the late president. Marquette also held one on Monday.
Masses
Date & Time: June 11-14 at noon
Location: St. Joan of Arc Chapel
Noon masses are being offered daily at the chapel on campus. On Wednesday, June 12, the campus community can take part in Eucharistic Exposition and Adoration immediately following the noon mass until 2 p.m.
Blue and gold ribbons
Dates: June 11-13
Those who wish can write prayers or share a thought or memory of Lovell on gold and blue ribbons, which will be available through the dates listed above. Those ribbons will be collected and put on a cross that was built partially from the pre-renovation St. Joan of Arc outdoor benches. You can get a ribbon for signing from the Alumni Memorial Union near the information desk.
Dr. Mike Lovell Memorial Run
Date & Time: June 15 at 9 a.m.
Location: St. Joan of Arc Chapel
A run will be held to honor Lovell on Saturday. Marquette said all runners, walkers or anyone are welcome to join to celebrate Lovell’s legacy. The meeting spot is at the chapel.
