MILWAUKEE — The Republican National Convention is set to bring an estimated 50,000 delegates, politicians, journalists and other visitors to Milwaukee from July 15-18.

Some of the city’s most iconic attractions are hoping to see more people during the big event. That includes American Family Field.

What You Need To Know

  • Milwaukee getting set to host 50,000 visitors for RNC

  • American Family Field offering tours for guests in town for the convention

  • Private group tours and walk up tours

“The Brewers are hosting the Washington Nationals the weekend before the RNC starting, so it’s a great opportunity for visitors and delegates to take in a Brewers game that weekend,” said Steve Ethier, senior vice president of stadium operations for the Milwaukee Brewers.

The ballpark also offers private group tours and daily walk-up tours of American Family Field.

Ballpark tour guides share the stadium’s history and provide a behind-the-scenes look at the dugouts, bull pen, luxury suites, press box and Bob Uecker’s seat. The tours also offer participants the chance to get on the field.

“When you step on the field at American Family Field you really get the feeling of how intimate this seating bowl is, and that I think, is the experience that you get that makes this ballpark unique and special,” said Ethier.

Even if visitors are tied up with RNC events during the day, Claire Koenig of Visit Milwaukee, said American Family Field serves as a fun spot for dinner or activities in the evenings.

“They have the new Leinenkugel Brewery, which is a fantastic place to watch the game. It also serves a great Wisconsin fish fry and supper club type food,” she said. “They also have the new X-Golf Swing Suites, which is a great way to take advantage of this beautiful ballpark.”
