WISCONSIN — Students and families will have an opportunity to learn more about what’s next after high school this weekend.
Marquette University and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) are collaborating to host the Wisconsin Statewide 2024 Precollege Fair on Saturday, Feb. 10. Last year, hundreds from across the state traveled to the fair.
Alisia Marquez, a grant specialist with the DPI, said it’s a good idea for students to attend the fair as early as possible.
“We start at sixth grade, but there is no limit to planting that seed for our youth,” she said.
Marquez said the fair is important for middle schoolers too because it allows them to explore and think about their future.
“It’s thought provoking, it’s exciting, and it starts the conversation with their parents with the family, with their teachers with everyone that’s in their support system as they prepare for what they want to do after high school,” Marquez said.
Attendees will have access to resources, precollege opportunities from several colleges in the state, and also scholarship opportunities for high school seniors. There will also be support at the fair to help students complete their FAFSA application.
Students and families are asked to preregister for the fair, which is free.
DPI also offers precollege programs for eligible students year round, with 16 participating universities.
