The turkey trot showcased turkeys of all ages and styles who trotted through the finish line. Participants had their pick between the two-mile walk, two-mile fun run or the timed five-mile run, not to mention the two-mile “dog jog.”

“It’s great,” said Alex Reyes, who ran the five-miler. “It’s refreshing. I’ve been doing this for several years now, so our group keeps getting bigger and bigger, so it’s fun with family and friends.”

For Lynn Koehler, this marks her third year in the trot with her family. She and one son opted for the two-miler, while her other son and husband embarked on the five-mile journey.

“It’s just a nice tradition,” she said. “Good way to kick off the Thanksgiving Day. Get a little fresh air.”

The event went the extra mile by supporting the Boys & Girls Club and YMCA.

“We did five miles, and it felt amazing,” said Leah Ulatowski. “It’s been a while since I did a real run, so yeah, it was awesome.”

Everyone who took part in the turkey trot this year got a t-shirt and a slice of pumpkin pie, truly earning their Thanksgiving feast.
