LITTLE CHUTE, Wis. — Will Stewart is one part of a larger team building modular electrical buildings inside a new facility in Little Chute.
His team specializes in integrating the grounding on modular transformer buildings.
“We’ll be pulling wires on the various trays that are on there and grounding the equipment to the skid steel,” Stewart said.
Excellerate recently completed and moved into a new 385,000 square foot facility. It’s one of five locations in Wisconsin and Kansas.
Stewart is able to see the progress of the individual modules as various specialized teams work toward completing each skid.
“Then (we’ll) come in and I’ll do all the grounding and bonding,” he said. “Then another team will come in and pull all the conductors. Then we have our systems team that does all the control work that’s pulling wires between the brains of the system. Then we even have our medium voltage which is from the utility.”
Work in the new facility is focused on modular electrical buildings used in places like data centers.
Excellerate Regional Manager Paul Keckhaver said the business is seeking people ranging from electricians and systems technicians to assemblers and logistics specialists.
“We’re really looking for those experienced electricians, foremen, superintendents as well as any looking to make a career change,” he said. “You can come on in with the apprenticeship program and we’ll train you in house and get you all the experience you need to get you to your journeyman classification.”
Keckhaver started in the field with Faith Technologies before moving over to Excellerate. Excellerate is a division of Faith Technologies Inc.
“A lot of times in construction you only get to see that one project and then you’re on to, hopefully, something else,” he said. “You get to see a wide range in here day over day and it’s constantly changing.”
The new facility moves work that was once done in the field by people like Stewart into a controlled environment.
“It’s really rewarding because you get to see something start from nothing as well as sharing the tasks and your own involvement in it,” Stewart said. “When it leaves, it’s completed, so it’s rewarding to see your hard work and collaboration as a whole come together to finish one of these.”
