What You Need To Know

  • Saturday marks 25 years since Amber Wilde disappeared from her Green Bay apartment

  • Her body hasn’t been found and no one has been arrested in the case

  • Police continue to investigate information as it comes forward

“Anytime any new information comes in, it’s always looked at and investigated. We’re always looking for new information,” he said. “What we’d like to have happen is if anyone has information to come in.”

Graf said he’s focused on providing some closure in the case.

“Part of our job is to investigate cases and I don’t think it really matters, to me at least, how old they are,” he said. “One of the more important things for me is to not just identify the perpetrator but, most importantly, get information for the victim’s family. The question right now is, where is Amber? We’re always striving to answer that question.”

Amber Wilde was 19 years old when she disappeared from her Green Bay apartment. Her car was found more than a week later near Lambeau Field.

The University of Wisconsin- Green Bay student was pregnant at the time of her disappearance. Her body has never been found.

Police have identified a person of interest, but no one has been arrested. Graf said changes in technology may help the case.

“Technology is getting better for DNA analysis. We always see that in mind when we occasionally do submit evidence again for DNA analysis,” he said. “I do think this case can come to a conclusion. It’s just a matter of finding that right piece of evidence. Whether it be we re-examine some evidence we have here at the police department or new information comes forward.”

Twenty-five years later, Wilde hasn’t been forgotten. People like Graf are still actively looking for answers.

“I do believe that there’s somebody out there with some sort of information that I think could provide help to our investigation,” he said. “It’s been 25 years, so perhaps they could reconsider why they haven’t come forward yet.”

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Green Bay Police Department.
