MEQUON, Wis. — In Pam Hart’s free time, she loves to be creative. She makes greeting cards, crotchets and knits, hobbies that weren’t possible a few years ago.

“I couldn’t do this with migraines,” said Pam Hart. “I couldn’t do anything with migraines.”

Pam Hart has suffered from chronic migraines for years. The migraines put her life on hold.

“You had no life,” said Pam Hart. “I couldn’t even get out of bed. They were so terrible.”

She visited multiple specialists, but it wasn’t until three years ago she found relief. It was thanks to her daughter-in-law’s brother, Dr. Aaron Bubolz, who is a headache neurologist.

“He sat there in silence, and he said, ‘don’t worry, I’m thinking,’” said Pam Hart. “He waited and decided that the best thing to try was the Botox.”

She began a Botox treatment every three months and hasn’t had a migraine since.

“I consider myself blessed because I’m sure some people still experience some, but I haven’t had none,” said Pam Hart. “I haven’t even had a headache.”

This past October, Pam Hart’s two sons, Aaron and Jacob Hart, partnered with Bubolz to open a migraine clinic. It’s called Mind+ Neurology in Mequon.

“It’s not like a scratch or a broken leg,” said Aaron Hart. “You see the pain and discomfort and think of ways to try and help solve it, but with the migraine condition and folks that have that, it’s really difficult to figure out and really difficult to understand if you haven’t experienced it yourself.”

Pam’s son and CEO, Aaron Hart, said that’s why they opened the clinic. He said they wanted to devote their time to those living with chronic migraines. More than 40 million Americans are migraine sufferers, the National Headache Foundation reports.

“Helping people get their lives back that have been suffering for so long is the most remarkable thing you can do," said Aaron Hart. "It’s incredible."

He said it’s the first walk-in migraine clinic in the country. They’re also expanding to the Fox Valley.

“It makes me proud that they want to do this,” said Pam Hart. “They want to help people. When I see them in the clinic, and I see their staff, they genuinely want to help people, and that makes me very happy.”

Pam Hart’s been able to live a normal life with her family thanks to her two sons and bonus son. She said she’s grateful they’ve dedicated their careers to help patients suffering like her.

Miles for Migraines will host their second annual walk Aug. 12th at Hart Park in Wauwatosa. All of the proceeds raised will go towards the Medical College of Wisconsin Headache Center for migraine research.
