GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Packers will try to stay in the hunt for a playoff berth when they play the Dolphins Christmas Day in Miami.
The Packers have won 14 straight games in the month of December. That’s tied for the second-longest December winning streak in NFL history. More importantly, they know they need to win in Miami to keep their playoff hopes alive.
“There's been multiple games where, over the years, we’ve been on the other side,” said Rodgers. “Fighting for playoff seeding. Teams have come in and done some really different things than we expected. But when you're the other side, you're got to do whatever it takes to win.”
Rodgers said he tries not to play the “what if?” game as the Packers have shown improvement in recent weeks.
“What is is the most important thing, and what is is that we're still playing a meaningful football game on Christmas. You’ve got a chance to have a lot of things in front of us.”
Rodgers said one victory stands out as a turnaround moment.
“I think the win against Cowboys was really important for us,” according to Rodgers. “We lost five in a row, and many of them not very pretty. So that was kind of our first ’last stand.’ And that kind of reminded us we actually can win football games.”
Rodgers said his future with the Packers will be tied, but only somewhat, to the Green Bay futures of good friends and veterans like David Bakhtiari, Randall Cobb and Marcedes Lewis.
“I think, first and foremost, it's going to be my own physical and mental health. How I'm feeling about committing to another year, two or three down the road, that grind. So I'm sure, you know, keeping those guys around would definitely give me something to look forward to, because those relationships are so important.”
Rodgers is 2-1 against the Dolphins as a starter, helping the Packers win in their last trip to Miami in 2014.
