On Monday Milwaukee Ald. Mark Chambers, Jr. also responded to the incident.
"Postal carrier Aundre Cross was a friendly, likeable, dependable and hardworking public servant who was just doing his job when he was gunned down Friday (December 9, 2022) in a yard near N. 65th and W. Lancaster in the 2nd Aldermanic District," said Chambers in a statement. "My prayers are with his family members, neighbors, coworkers and friends. The murder has shaken the community and the close-knit group of USPS workers across the city who, like Mr. Cross, perform their duties quietly and diligently every day."
Police say they’re still investigating the circumstances leading up to the incident and are searching for suspects. MPD is leading the investigation with the assistance of USPS and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
