MILWAUKEE — The Northcott Neighborhood House and Bader Philanthropies hosted its third annual Thanksgiving Dinner giveaway Thursday.
Northcott Neighborhood House usually provides food pantry access to those living in Milwaukee’s 53212 and 53206 zipcodes.
Kendall Parson was one of those volunteering for Thanksgiving. He said this is a family tradition.
“We’ve been doing this for years so it’s natural,” said Parson. “We give back to the community that we live in. We like helping other people.”
Jason Booth was another volunteer helping out. He said he wanted to help be a part of a place that already does so much for the community year-round. Booth said Northcott is a pillar in the community.
“I just enjoy being able to help out and give back to the people that may be a little less fortunate than myself,” said Booth.
The bags that were handed out were filled with enough food to make dinner for a family of four. It included a homemade meal that could be reheated at home, complete with chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, rolls, and even pound cake.
Franklin Cumberbatch is the vice president of Bader Philanthropies. The organization helped sponsor the event.
“The organization is very blessed to have resources to support other organizations like these,” he said.
Meals were handed out for families all morning on Thanksgiving Day.
