MILWAUKEE — A Wisconsin mom who lost her daughter in a shooting outside their home is speaking out about gun violence and the kindness her daughter brought into this world.
The shooting happened Oct. 10 near 38th and Rohr in Milwaukee.
“She looked at me, and said, 'mom, he shot me, too.' She looked up at me. I tried to get her out into the yard so we wouldn’t be in the alley. I tried to cover her exit wound and turned her over and saw her lips were turning purple," explained Celeste Wilson, the mother of 12-year-old Olivia Schultz, who was shot and killed.
Olivia was also shot while they were unloading groceries outside their home. Wilson said her daughter came back outside to check on her after she was shot and that is when her daughter was shot.
“That is the part that kills me the most—she came back to help me. I feel he killed my baby with her own kindness. Even though he was still shooting, she came back to still help me,” said Wilson.
Wilson will remember her beloved daughter for her kindness, smile, laughter and joy she brought to others. This grieving mother also wants answers and for the violence to stop.
“We need a lot of things to change. It is not just the police; it is parents as well. Parents need to know what their kids are doing,” said Wilson.
Since the publishing of this story, Milwaukee Police have not made an arrest in this investigation.
There is a GoFundMe page created to help the family cover funeral costs.
