MADISON, Wis. — Badgers fans from across Wisconsin made their way to Madison on Saturday to watch the Badgers face off against Purdue.
Rob and Susan Schellin said they find themselves in Madison for every Badgers home game. They even have their own reserved parking spot and season tickets to Camp Randall Stadium.
But that’s just the beginning of their fandom.
One day, Rob Schellin and his friend Rus Fortune discussed buying a bus to drive to home games. What their wives thought was a joke ended up being reality.
“Like a week later, Rus and I showed up with a school bus and they were like, ‘oh my god, you guys did it.’ They didn’t believe us,” said Rob Schellin.
The pair of friends bought the bus last fall. Rob Schellin said when they purchased the bus, it was white and it looked like a prison bus.
Now, the bus has received an entirely new paint job. Though, it wasn’t just the outside that got a makeover.
“We went with the diner theme and it is an evolving thing, so we went with the black and white tile,” said Susan Schellin.
With checkered tiles and 50s diner vibes, walking into the bus makes one feel like they’ve stepped back in time.
The back of the bus has a handful of signatures from everyone who has stepped foot inside and while there is no exact plan yet, the signatures will most likely spread throughout the bus’s interior as its popularity grows.
Fans can find the Badger bus parked at every home game. It always has a spot reserved just outside of the stadium.
