MILWAUKEE — It’s time to raise a toast, or a cheese curd, to a Wisconsin cheese factory celebrating a big anniversary.
Clock Shadow Creamery in Milwaukee’s Walkers Point neighborhood is celebrating 10 years as the first, and only cheese factory in the city.
Since its opening, Clock Shadow has been known for their extra squeaky cheese curds and commitment to environmentally friendly cheese-making practices.
Steve Hurd is the master cheesemaker at Clock Shadow. He’s been with the business for the past four years.
For him, it’s all about the satisfaction of feeding customers.
“It is the results of the job. Watching people’s faces when they bite into a cheese curd and they have that wow-type look on their face, to me, that is the satisfaction I get from doing the job,” said Hurd.
Bob Wills owns Clock Shadow Creamery. Wills said over the past decade, he has been pleased to see how well known the Clock Shadow name has become.
“We look at that list of James Beard-winning or -nominated restaurants in the area and go through it,” said Wills. “We are fortunate to have an affiliation with people who really care about the quality of their product.”
To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Clock Shadow will be hosting a celebration at Walkers Point called Squeak Fest.
It will take place on Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. To learn more, you can visit their Facebook page.
