LA CROSSE, Wis. — The newest Marquette Law School poll showed Governor Tony Evers in a virtual tie with his Republican challenger Tim Michels.
University of Wisconsin-La Crosse political science professor, Anthony Chergosky, said he doesn't expect polling to change much before Election Day.
"I think the big unknown here is how people react when they get to know more about Tim Michels. That's something that really stood out to me from the Marquette poll," Chergosky noted.
He pointed out 33% of registered voters viewed Michels favorably and 33% viewed him unfavorably, according to that Marquette poll.
"But you've got a whole lot of people out there who haven't made up their mind about Tim Mchels. I think we're in for a close race, but it's going to be a race on both sides to define Tim Michels positively or negatively," Chergosky said.
He said he thinks that will have a major effect on this race. Chergosky also called August polls an "indicator" but said they don't give us a precise idea of how the election is going to turn out.
