MILWAUKEE— On Saturday, Journey House partnered with Charter Communications to help launch the Spectrum Technology and Training Center.

The center is the first-of-its-kind in Wisconsin and will aim to help with long-term job training and development.

The gift is part of Spectrum's Community Center Assist, a five-year, $30 million dollar initiative to help revitalize local community centers.

“Milwaukee is fortunate to have a strong network of community partners such as Spectrum and Journey House, said Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson. "Their partnership and this investment in job training programs will help strengthen our community."

“Community centers like Journey House are hallmarks of our neighborhoods, where people go for support, shared experiences and develop new job skills or find new employment,” said Rahman Khan, Vice President of Community Impact for Charter Communications, Inc. “Through our partnership, Spectrum Community Center Assist will help Journey House provide essential employment training and resources to help ensure Milwaukee neighbors have a safe and revitalized physical space.”

Spectrum hosted a revitalization event Saturday where people enjoyed activities, giveaways, food trucks and had access to a free resource fair. Employees and community volunteers helped with landscaping, painting and setting up the technology center at Journey House.

Journey House empowers families on Milwaukee's near Southside to move out of poverty by offering Adult Education, Youth Leadership & Athletics, THRIVE Workforce Development, and Family Engagement. Spectrum's hope is that every individual and family will be given the tools and resources to succeed and contribute personally, professionally, and civically to the neighborhood and our greater Milwaukee community.
