BEAVER DAM, Wis. — A Milwaukee classic rock cover band, The Now, has a busy summer performing at different events across the state.

One of them being at Summerfest.

The lead guitarist, Mike Rosa, joined the band 17 years ago. The other members include lead vocalist Joey Gleesing, bass player Mike Rodenkirch and drummer Marty Pierce.

“We play all over the place,” said Rosa. “Play in Milwaukee, Minnesota, this year. All over Wisconsin.”

The Now returned to the big stage at Summerfest after a 6 year hiatus on June 24th.

“Going in as a local band, you feel like you’re a band on a national tour,” said Rosa.

Joey Gleesing said it’s a thrilling experience getting to perform in front of a huge crowd.

“They hear that ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ and they come running,” said Gleesing. “To play to thousands of people, there’s nothing like it. Hearing them sing the words along with you. Giving them the mic to sing. There’s nothing like that.”

Both Joey and Mike have performed at Summerfest countless of times, but each year getting to see fans that have followed their journey makes it much sweeter.

“To have the support of the local community and people out there it means the world to us,” said Gleesing.
