GREEN BAY, Wis.— Tiffany Fellenz witnessed something she had not seen before Wednesday when storms raged through her neighborhood.

The Green Bay resident said she was in the backyard with her dog when sudden winds blew tree branches and limbs into her yard.

“I know it was going to be bad with strong winds coming in, but I didn’t think that it was going to take down my gazebo and we were going to witness it as my dog was using the bathroom, no,” Fellenz said.

Fellenz spent Thursday morning cleaning up the mess, cutting down the branches to make them easier to drag to the curb.

“Very grateful because being that my home and my bedroom and garage were literally three and a half to four feet away and the fence, there’s no structural damage, so not having an insurance claim is definitely a bonus,” she said.

On Thursday, Brown County leaders declared a state of emergency. County, city, and energy company crews were busy clearing the streets of downed trees and fixing downed power lines.

WPS and WE Energies reported power outages that continued into Thursday.

Fellenz said she was just glad she was safe.

“It could have been a lot worse, so I’m just glad for everybody that they were okay, because things can be replaced and people can’t,” she said.
