DOOR COUNTY, Wis. — Door County cherry blossoms stole the show in Sturgeon Bay.
Skipp Robertson of Robertson Orchards said the same happens every year: Cherries blossom, and people come in from all over to take pictures.
“Oh, they look amazing,” said Robertson, a fifth generation cherry farmer.
Robertson said the sweet cherries blossomed first, with the tart ones usually blossoming a week later.
“These ones right here will start popping open almost any moment here,” he said.
Robertson said the weather has helped moved the blossom along.
“I know I like the weather,” he said.
He said it’ll take 60 days for the cherries to be ready for picking so long as there’s no frost in the forecast until then. That means the picking season could start mid-July.
