MILWAUKEE — Time after time, Aaron Rodgers has talked about how he embraces the cold and how playing on the "Frozen Tundra" of Lambeau Field gives the green and gold an advantage.

“I feel teams can break more because there is an excuse — the weather," said Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers previously.

But, it's really all dependent on the temperature during the game.

Sean Bratton with Fantasy Football Weather Guys broke down the statistical odds of the Packers playing in temperatures at or below freezing.

“Since 2009, we will talk about this from the Rodgers-era, because that is the era we are in," said Fantasy Football Weather Guys co-creator and meteorologist, Sean Bratton. "There here have been eight home playoff games at Lambeau since 2019, and Green Bay has won five of them. If we want to extend that back to 2000, they are eight for 14, so that incorporates the Brett Favre-era. That's right around a 60% winning percentage, and they are usually at or below freezing."

According to statistics, the Packers have found less success in the extreme cold in the playoffs when the temperatures are at zero or single digits.

“Unfortunately, yeah, they are 0 and 2," added Bratton. "They played against the 49ers in 2014 and the Giants in 2008, and those were around zero, or single-digits to zero, and they lost both of those games 23 to 20.”

Now, let's talk about how Aaron Rodgers plays in the cold since he likes to talk about how he embraces the cold temperatures.

"Yeah, that is a good motto to have that he does embrace the cold," said Bratton. "We typically see Aaron Rodgers, regardless of the weather conditions, perform well. He has a good baseline to move the ball efficiently regardless of the weather conditions, which not a lot of quarterbacks can say. And, he knows the players on offenses and defenses are sometimes caught in bad weather off guard and can’t catch back up, and Aaron Rodgers takes advantage of that."

Other players like Davante Adams prefer differently, but Adams does know it helps against some teams, like dome teams.

“I don’t like the cold," said Adams previously. "I still don’t like it, but when we got a team coming in who’s not familiar with it, or you know a dome team or somethin' like that, I cherish those games more, because there is no way to prepare for it.”

So, as the road to the Super Bowl runs through Lambeau, everyone will be embracing the "Frozen Tundra".

"It is a different ball game when it's cold and at home, and we’ve handled it well over the years, and that is what we are hoping for in the playoffs,” added Rodgers.

Packers fans should be hoping for temperatures to be right around freezing to give the Packers a distinct advantage.
