Custodian Dwayne Malone has worked for the Boys and Girls Club for more than a decade.
"Dwayne has saved the club tens of thousands of dollars. Every time we have done a rebuild like this... he and his wife and his kids are usually the ones doing the work and this time we wanted to bless him and his wife," said Micheal Johnson, CEO of Boys and Girls Club of Dane County.
So this Christmas Eve, the man who is always giving found himself on the receiving end.
Malone has been saving to buy a home for a while now, but has hit a few bumps in the road. When Steve Santek heard about Malone, he knew he wanted to help.
Santek is behind making Malone's dream a reality.
"I heard about Dwayne's story of him saving up money to try to buy a house and how he was having a very difficult time getting financing and finding a house that would be good for him and his family," said Santek.
Within two weeks, Santek helped find a home for Malone and get financing through the Bank of Sun Prairie. Santek also started a campaign to raise $40,000 towards his closing costs.
Thanks to local donors and a community of volunteers, Malone and his family now know what it truly means to be home for the holidays.
When the Malone family walked into their new home, there were a few suprirses in store.
"Welcome home," Johnson said.
"I had no idea. Micheal, what have you done?" said Malone. Malone was otherwise struck speechless.
The new house was decorated, furnished and move-in ready, making one family in need's Christmas dream come true.
