MILWAUKEE — The "Greek Freak," also known as Giannis Antetokounmpo, is an icon for many Greek fans young and old. At Greek Fest in Wauwatosa Saturday, many fans celebrated the Bucks and their Greek culture.
“If it wasn’t for Giannis, we wouldn’t be here,” said Bucks fan Maria Korkos. “We love him, we love being Greek, and we love that he brought it to Milwaukee!”
Many Greek fans say they’re proud of the representation the Bucks have brought to the city and thanks to the team the City of Milwaukee’s name has made it’s way around the map.
“Now everyone in Greece knows Milwaukee,” said Buck fan Dionisios Tsioutsiopoulos. “When we’re in a situation like this, NBA finals, Greek festival, everyone’s in a great mood, the energy is fantastic and we feed off of each other’s energy.”
That vibrant energy brought people from all over the community together to celebrate.
After Saturday night’s win, the only thing fans are hoping for is a chance to bring a ring back home.
“Bring it back home and give us a win in Milwaukee,” said Bucks fan Anthony Weary.
Everyone had one sentiment in common at the festival and expressed it with fun chants: “Bucks in Six!”
