WAUWATOSA, Wis. – As people search for ways to assure strangers they’re vaccinated, a Wisconsin woman’s business is growing.

Toni Bonini has a second bedroom in her apartment, dedicated just to crafting and designing. She started her Etsy shop Pop Daisy Studio in March.

“While I had my nine to five and can design all day long, I still like to design on the side,” she said.

Just like any new business, it takes time to get going.

“It's been slow to start. But actually, the vaccine merch has been the most consistent ordering that I've got,” she said.

Bonini designs and sells buttons and stickers that tell the world “I’ve been vaccinated”. Some just say “vaccinated”, one button says “I am vaccinated, still not a hugger”.

In many public places across Wisconsin, masks aren’t required for vaccinated people. Some who got the shot are looking for ways to tell those around them they’re protected.

“We're in an awkward phase where it's like you're vaccinated, you can start to stop wearing your mask. But then it's like you want people to know that you are [vaccinated] so they feel comfortable around you,” Bonini said.

She’s not alone in making these kinds of products. A quick search on Etsy shows hundreds of “I’m Vaccinated” items.

A few times a day, her phone dings to tell her she’s got another sale. They’re growing even more popular.

“I had to reorder the buttons, and I'm placing in the order for some more stuff I'm going to add to the shop,” she said. “I wasn't expecting people to be as interested as they are.”

Those growing sales are proof that something as simple as a button can make people feel more comfortable, especially knowing the people they see in public can see that button, and feel a little safer too.

“That’s the common denominator this whole last year, is that everyone just feels so uneasy,” Bonini said. “I feel good that I can help people, even if it's as small as a little button or a sticker.”
