MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. debuted its new Northwestern Mutual Community Park at the Henry Maier Festival Park in Milwaukee this month.

It's one of many improvements made on the SummerFest grounds.

The Northwestern Mutual Community Park encompasses 54,000 square feet of play equipment for children.

"The Unstoppable" Damian Buchman, founder of the Ability Center, the group behind ramping up the accessibility features of the park, shared the impact of the renovated play space.

"They all look back to the parent they're there with, an adult they're with. They want to play with you to not just their friends, and you should be able to play," Buchman said. "So the idea here that they've made the double-wide ramps the transferable slides, the accessible bathrooms give families an opportunity for everybody to play together and I think that's what's the most important."

This entirely redeveloped entertainment space for families offers inclusive and accessible play for all children ages 2 to 12 years of age.

The park will be open Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and weekdays noon - 4 p.m. from June 19 - Aug. 5. For more on the park and its features, click here.
