GREEN BAY, Wis.— Quarterback Aaron Rodgers skipped the first day of the Packers' mandatory minicamp on Tuesday in Green Bay. The team is going about its work while still hoping for a solution.

Rodgers is subject to around $93,000 in fines if he skips the entire three-day camp.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur wouldn't say if the team would waive the fine, or if they would consider calling it an excused absence.

“I think any time you’re talking about any player on your football team, you’d love everybody to be here. It is what it is, man," he said. "We’ll focus and we’ll control and we’ll work on the guys that are here and try to help them become the best to their ability and coach the heck out of them. We’re going to take it one day at a time and try to remedy the situation the best we can.”

Offensive tackle David Bakhtiari won't offer a timetable for his return from his ACL injury, but he did weigh in on his good friend Aaron Rodgers.

“I care about Aaron Rodgers from a friend perspective. Whatever he wants to do, whatever the situation that comes out, I will never hold any grudge against him," he said. "That is my friend. That is somebody I've appreciated, and he’s done a lot for this organization, and a lot for me as an individual. Now as a teammate, I would be idiotic to say that I don’t want the MVP back. I have a very close relationship with Aaron, but this is something that is not... I’m not going to inject myself in the middle. It’s between them and whatever they come to, I mean hey, the show must go on.”

The five Packers receivers who were not at OTA's were at the minicamp.

Entering the last year of his contract, wide receiver Davante Adams says he'll be at training camp, whether he has a contract extension or not. Adams said he stands by Rodgers and is also close with him.

“At this point, it’s just going to come down to the logistics and him and the rest of the club kinda ironing out whatever they have to figure out. None of that’s on me and I really don’t know as much as what you guys probably think about it, too. Just let them handle that," he said. "[I am] just sitting here doing what I gotta do— keep getting better and keep watching the progression of everybody else that’s here right now. When and if he’s back, obviously we’ll welcome him back with open arms.”

Another Packer not at OTA's, cornerback Jaire Alexander was at minicamp.

Four Packers are in COVID-19 protocol. It doesn't mean they tested positive. They just can't be at the facility or practice. The players are Za'Darius Smith, Preston Smith, Elgton Jenkins and Dean Lowry.
