GREEN BAY, Wis. — Leaders of the Brown County Family Services Crisis Center, the county’s center for those having mental health emergencies, gave a tour of their new facility Monday.
The new center, located at 3150 Gershwin Drive in Green Bay, will become fully operational Wednesday, with staff moving into the new building Tuesday.
“It’s full of light. It is welcoming and warm,” said Program Manager Jenny Younk.
Younk said the facility was built as an add-on to the county’s existing community treatment center.
Brown County Health and Human Services Executive Director Erik Pritzl said the more than $2 million expansion allows people looking for crisis services to get other mental health help in the same building.
“If you come here, once we’re fully staffed, you can go through the crisis assessment medical stability. If you’re being admitted to one of our units, you’re just going down the hall,” Pritzl said.
Younk said she can’t wait to start offering services in their new location.
“Just being able to make that difference, show that somebody cares, be there at their time of need and help them see how they can help themselves, it’s rewarding,” she said.
