GREEN BAY, Wis. —  Families in Wisconsin are deciding whether it’s safe to allow their children to trick-or-treat this year during the pandemic.

Whitney Towle of Green Bay says she’s taking her daughter around the neighborhood.

“We were always going to go trick-or-treating,” Towle says. “We’re a big Halloween family.”

She says safety is still important. She plans to social distance as much as possible while out with her daughter.

“We’re just going to kinda go around the neighborhood and see who’s actually participating, who’s not participating, who’s being safe,” Towle says.

Ravyn Towle says she’s glad to be trick-or-treating with her mother this year.

“I don’t like quarantine,” Ravyn says. She’s dressing up as a steampunk bunny this year.

Nick, 10, and Laura, 9, Felker are not dressing up this year. Their parents have decided to do something else this Halloween.

“Honestly, I’m pretty bummed,” says Nick. “I can’t dress up in a costume and get candy from random people’s houses.”

“We can get candy any time of the year, but Halloween you get a bucket full of candy,” Laura says. “Mom’s not just gonna buy us a bucket full of candy.”

“That’s true,” says their mother, Jody Felker. “We’re gonna be great. We’re going to have so much fun. They’re still gonna get some candy.”
