STEVENS POINT, Wis. — Shelves in Worzalla’s office display what happens on the production floor.

From coffee table photos books to children’s books, the Stevens Point publisher says it’s staying busy and in need of employees following a multi-million investment in the employee-owned company.

“We added 50,000 square feet to our company,” said Brett O’Sullivan, Worzalla’s recruitment coordinator, Worzalla. “We also added two new pieces of equipment in the last: a brand new Kolbus perfect binder and brand new Heidelberg sheet-fed printing press.”

It’s now seeking more than 35 employees. Positions include level production jobs ranging from $13 to $15 per hours depending on the shift to machine operators for jobs with pay ranging from $15 to $21 per hour.

“What we’re looking for in our new associates is someone who has a desire to learn, has the willingness to grown within the company and attendance is a big thing as well,” O’Sullivan said. “Someone who is going to be committed to the company and will put their best foot forward and be here everyday with a smile on their face.”

Jared Campbell has been with the company more than a year. He started as an assistant on a folding machine that he now runs.

He finds satisfaction in seeing the finished products on coffee tables and book shelves.

“It’s really exciting and with family members it’s like, ‘Hey, we made that book,’” Campbell said. ”Or with my kids, I tell them,’I helped make this book.’ And it gets them into more books.”

A wide breadth of books pass through Worzalla's machines.

“We produce books for National Geographic, Marvel, Disney, Star Wars,” O’Sullivan said. “We’re the only printing company in North America that’s printing Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Knowing these books are going all over the country and we’re touching lives outside of our community, it’s pretty special.”
