WISCONSIN (SPECTRUM NEWS) — Wisconsin’s percentage of positive COVID-19 tests has hit a new high since March. 

Based on the new data out from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, the state's case positivity rate (the number of all positive COVID-19 tests out of all tests administered) sat at 17.56 percent following the Labor Day weekend. On Wednesday, the daily positivity rate dipped to 9.7 percent before jumping back up on Thursday to 17.54 percent. The positivity rate now sits at 13.8 percent. 

 

On Friday, Wisconsin confirmed 1,369 new cases of coronavirus, adding on to the 4,581 previously reported between Sunday and Thursday. Overall, the total number of recorded cases across the state has now hit 86,250.

Per the health department, there is a rolling seven-day average of 13.6 percent. On Thursday this week, the rolling seven-day average was 13.4 percent. This is the highest seven-day average in the Badger State, topping the previous high which was 11.52 percent toward the end of March. 

The lowest average was 2.58 percent during week of June 7.

There were also no new deaths recorded Tuesday, but 29 more people were hospitalized due to complications from the virus. On Wednesday, the stae saw 15 deaths alongside 55 hospitalizations. On Thursday, 10 more Wisconsinites died, and another 49 were admitted to the hospital. On Friday, 41 died, and another four died. 

 

In total, 1,197 people have died due to coronavirus around the state since the pandemic began.

The recovery rate, as of Thursday, sits at 88 percent.
