MILWAUKEE, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- With more than 1,800 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin since Friday alone, including the state's biggest spike since testing began of 738 new cases Saturday, the state's positivity rate is soaring.

Deaths and hospitalizations tied to COVID-19, though, have held somewhat steady.

New data out Sunday from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services confirmed no new reported COVID-19-associated deaths for back-to-back days. This is now the second time in roughly a week that the state's had back-to-back days with no confirmed fatalities, something which hadn't happened since March 28 and March 29.

Still, 30 Wisconsinites with COVID-19 have died in the past 10 days, bringing the state's total to 796 since testing began.

Meanwhile, COVID-19-related hospitalizations have somewhat plateaued, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association, not rising above 275 beds for the past 19 days.

ICU bed use for COVID-19 patients has fallen from 100 to 65 in that same time frame.

While hospitalizations have held steady as of late, they had initially been falling dramatically since the end of May, dropping from 414 on May 30 to 241 on June 18.

Sunday, the WHA reported 244 total COVID-19 patients across Wisconsin.

When it comes to the state's positivity rate (the rate of all the positive cases reported out of all the tests administered), Wisconsin ended the past week, Sunday-to-Saturday, at 5.61%-- Saturday's rate was 10.82%.

Sunday's positivity rate came in at 10.45% to start the new week with 522 positive tests and 4,474 negative tests in Wisconsin.
