MILWAUKEE (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- Avoiding a parking ticket is just a few clicks away, now that metered parking will be enforced in Milwaukee again.

Milwaukee previously suspended metered and night parking restrictions in response to COVID-19 on March 19. Suspensions on metered parking were lifted today. However, alternate-side parking, non-metered timed parking and night parking permits will not be enforced yet. That date is still being determined.

Should you choose to use metered parking in the city, Milwaukee is urging drivers to download the MKE Park app to pay for parking. It is free to download and compatible with both iPhones and Androids.

After downloading, enter the zone number. This can be found on a sticker on your parking meter. Next, choose the amount of time you plan to use the space. Then tap “Start Parking.” If needed, you can extend your time limit on your phone without having to physically return to your vehicle.

This contactless way to pay aims to reduce the number of people touching over 6,000 meters throughout Milwaukee, and therefore prevent the spread of the coronavirus in our community.

"The City of Milwaukee is pleased to partner with ParkMobile to provide our residents and visitors with an upgraded mobile parking app experience,” said Mayor Tom Barrett. “The MKE Park app lets people quickly and easily pay for parking without touching a meter, which is safer for everyone.”

MKE Park offers in-app chat support to assist users should issues arise.
