MILWAUKEE, Wis, (SPECTRUM NEWS)— YMCA of greater Waukesha County opens up kids summer camp two weeks early.

After a few months of being cooped up inside things in Wisconsin are starting to get back to normal.

That includes camp for kids.

It’s all fun and games in the second week of kids camp at the YMCA of greater Waukesha County.

“Ultimately the kids and the campers. We are all trying to figure this out together and kind of reinventing camp in a much safer way,” YMCA of Greater Waukesha County Senior Program Director, Blake Compton said.

The camp started two weeks earlier than usual this year to help those parents who had to head back to work.

“We know that some parents really need this sort of emergency child care whether schools are finished or they are going back to work,” YMCA of Greater Waukesha County Marketing Director, Emily Salas said.

The camp serves kids from four to 13 years old. Things will look a little different than usual. There will be a lot more hand washing, smaller group sizes, and a lot more outdoor actives.

“I think right now especially this summer day camp is more important than ever. Kids have been stuck inside on screens, not having that social interaction that they normally do and they are really excited to get back into the camp routine,” Salas said.

The camp allows these kids to get out and see friends and remain active all while staying safe. There are nine different YMCA locations in the greater Waukesha area for kids to sign up for camp. For more information, click HERE.
