INDIANAPOLIS, In. — Saying America is facing "uprecedented challenges," pharmaceutical giant Eli Lillly announced Monday, it wants to help diabetic patients who use Lilly insulin during the coronavirus.

The cost of insulin was skyrocketing before the COVID-19 pandemic. Lilly says it doesn't want patients who are dealing with lost jobs or lost insurance to worry about their insulin supply.

The company says it can cover a number of options to help patients, including how to receive free insulin. Lilly patients can call 1-833-808-1234. They can also go to the Lilly Diabetes Solution Center website.  The phone lines are open from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm (ET), Monday thru Friday.

Patients who call the number will be on the line approximately 10 minutes and the company says there are no forms to fill out. There are Spanish language operators and the operators can also translate calls into 40 languages.
