MILWAUKEE (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- With thousands of people employed in the service industry around Wisconsin either out of work or seeing a large reduction in tips as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak, a new website is hoping to help those dealing with a sudden reduction in income.

TipMKE is a website launched earlier this week designed to allow people to tip their favorite employees in the service industry while they are out of work. The site contains a spreadsheet of servers and bartenders from around metro Milwaukee, including names, where they work, and how you can send them tips directly to their cash apps like Venmo.

Allen Halas owns a music business in Milwaukee, but when he saw friends and family who work in the service industry struggling following the abrupt closure of bars and restaurants, he knew he wanted to do something to help. It is the reason he decided to create the page.

“I defiantly  think this is a way to show your local service industry person that all hope is not lost. These were a lot of people who were kind of blindsided by the impact of the Coronavirus. It is a way to tell them that your patrons are still there, they are still going to come back but we are not forgetting about them in that interim time.” Says Halas

If you would like to learn more about TipMKE including how you can contribute or add your name to the list of service industry employees, you can visit the TipMKE website
