FOX POINT, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS)— Friendship Bakery in Fox Point opens its doors.

Back in August we brought you a story about the Friendship Bakery's new location in Fox Point and even gave you a look inside at the beginning stages of the renovation project. Now, we have an update on the completed project.

Shira Miller starts her shift like any other food service employee, by washing up and getting ready to serve. Shira is an employee at Friendship Bakery and she is in charge of filling coffee.

Although she says she has never tested the coffee, she is confident that it is made with love.

"I'm not a coffee person, but I like hot chocolate and tea," Friendship Bakery Employee, Shira Miller said.

During the bakery’s soft opening, Shira spends most of her time learning how to make crafted lattes and cappuccinos. She also works on customer service and how to check someone out at the cash register.

But for Shira, it's more than just about coffee and the treats. It’s about the bond and connection she makes with her coworkers and even customers.

"I love being able to provide these work skills and take it on to somewhere else and get a job," Friendship Bakery Employee, Keaton Larson said.

Shira and 25 other employees living with disabilities will help make this place run by providing service with a smile, and quality coffee and treats to the greater Milwaukee area.

The bakery is all run based on donations. They are still in need of many items to put the finishing touches on the project.
