BROOKFIELD, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) - The snow may have put a damper on Halloween festivities in Brookfield, but it didn’t hold families back from enjoying the early winter wonderland.

In the 14 1/2 years that Brian Mitchell has lived in Brookfield, this was a first. “It’s the first time we have had to reschedule Trick or Treating,” said Mitchell.

It’s a first for Jennifer Dressler and her family too. “I don’t think we have been sledding before December ever,” she said.

So, this Halloween, instead of indulging in candy, kids were burning calories.

“This is even better, just going down sleds and playing snow football and diving in the snow, said Curtis Mitchell.“

But truth be told, Brian Mitchel was one step ahead of Brookfield’s trick or treating cancellation.

“We looked at the weather report last week and we ended up going trick or treating at a different neighborhood on Sunday when it was nice, so we still got our candy,” Mitchell said.

The city of Brookfield's trick or treating is rescheduled for 5 to 7:30 p.m on Saturday, Nov. 2. Trick-or-treat hours in South Milwaukee have been moved 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2.
