GREEN BAY, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) – Veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson returned to Green Bay on Tuesday to hang up his cleats with the green and gold.
The 34-year-old Nelson played in Green Bay from 2008-2017, winning a Super Bowl with the Packers, before spending last season with the Oakland Raiders in 2018.
Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said Nelson informed the team of his decision on Sunday.
Nelson has the third most catches in franchise history and was a key player to the packers win in Super Bowl 45 in 2011 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He hosted a press conference at Lambeau Field to reflect on his time with the team.
"It was a great opportunity to spend 10 years here, start our family here. We just moved back to Kansas and I told my oldest we were moving home, he said nuh-uh, home to me is green bay, and I'm like well, valid," said Jordy Nelson during the conference.
Nelson had 550 receptions and 69 touchdown catches in his 10 seasons in Green Bay. He made the Pro Bowl in 2014, missed the 2015 season with a knee injury and was named the 2016 Comeback Player of the Year.
