MADISON, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) — A Madison businessman has a plan to help students avoid taking on too much debt. Masood Akhtar is starting a new program to offer Wisconsin college bound kids interest free loans.

"In Wisconsin, only 29 percent of 5.9 million people have an undergraduate degree; that’s pretty low," he said.

Akhtar says he will provide loan forgiveness to any students who graduate with a 3.91 grade point average or higher. He is looking for donations and a diverse group of mentors to help recipients reach their potential.
