RACINE (SPECTRUM NEWS) - Construction continues on the multi-billion dollar Foxconn manufacturing facility in Racine County.

Development leaders in the area tell Spectrum News 1 it's expected to bring thousands of jobs and a big boost to the economy.

Foxconn is also expected to increase the student population in the Racine Unified School District and that's why district leaders are doing what they can to prepare ahead of time.

"I don't think the Midwest has seen an economic boom like this in a long time," said Racine Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Eric Gallien.

The population living in Racine Unified School District is expected to grow by around 24 percent in the next thirty years. That's why the school district is preparing for a big boom in school population as well.

While a number of people in the region express excitement over the forthcoming plant, comments from Governor Tony Evers indicate that the company won't meet its promised job quota by next year.
