FRANKLIN, WI (SPECTRUM NEWS) - For many, a trip to the airport can mean the gateway to adventure. However, for many families with children on the autism spectrum, it can create some major challenges. From loud noises, to changes in routine, many families say travel can be very difficult. However, a unique travel agency is helping to make travel and vacation planning easier.

Sara Nowacki is the founder of Autism Friendly Vacations. Nowacki, who's son has sensory challenges, knows firsthand how difficult it can be to plan a trip. It is why she decided to start her agency to make planning easier on other families.

“I love to see that they have gotten to try something new. That they get to try something new as a family, something they didn’t think was possible.” says Nowacki

Nowacki says there are often small accomodations that can be made for families that can make a big difference. It includes the ability to pre-board flights and take advantage of theme parks that have staff trained to deal with those on the autism spectrum. Nowacki says she hopes as autism awareness continues to grow, the resources available for families will as well.
