Hailing from Wisconsin's 16th District, State Representative and Assembly Assistant Democratic Leader Kalan Haywood was inspired to run for office to make a difference in his community, especially giving young people a seat at the table to help solve problems.

Haywood's favorite part of his job is seeing the positive impact he can make and inspiring the next generation of leaders. The hardest part of his job is working with others who do not always understand or agree with him but recognizing that they share a common goal to build a better community.

His first paying job was at his local Boys and Girls Club. Given an extra hour of free time, Haywood would relax by watching Netflix.
