MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- The class of 2020 has missed out on a lot amid the coronavirus pandemic, but one Menomonee Falls senior wasn't going to let anything get in the way of celebrating graduation with her family.
“I’m filled with joy because today is the best day," Kenyette Edwards, a graduating senior, said.
It's not every day your principal presents you with a diploma at your house in front of all of your friends and family, but it's a moment Edwards will remember for the rest of her life.
There's another reason why this at-home graduation is extra special.
“Her dad would not have made her actual graduation," Kyana Myles, Edward's aunt, said. "He is and has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, so we wanted to make this special for him and for her so that they could share that moment.”
“It means everything to my daughter," Natasha Dotson, Edward's mom, said. "It means everything to me that he got a chance to see her presented with her diploma."
It's no secret that for this certified daddy's girl, Edwards would do anything to have her dad at her graduation.
“I’m definitely a daddy’s girl," Edwards said. "My momma don’t like it, but I will choose him over her. That’s my everything for real."
As Edwards steps into the real world with so much uncertainty, she will forever be able to remember celebrating this momentous occasion with her dad.
