MILWAUKEE (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- The Milwaukee Admirals just brought home their newest member.

Bender, their new rink pup, will be scoring major points with the players and fans this season.

The pitbull-mix pup was brought to Wisconsin by the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS), along with eleven litter mates, and his mother Mila.

The Admirals will try to train Bender to come along community events and interact with fans at games.

The team also hopes that having Bender in the arena will help them with a few missions this season.

"I think the morale of having a dog around is great but also we want to be able to use bender to be in the community, the admirals do a lot in the community as far as schools, the Ronald McDonald's house, and Children's hospital."

One of the goals is to eliminate the stigma against certain animal breeds, proving that any dog breed can be loving when properly raised and cared for.

"Since he's a pitbull mix, we wanted to combine the two and really get the public to know that just because someone has the title of a bully breed, it doesn't necessarily mean they're a bully animal."

He will also be helping his rink brothers eliminate stigmas around them.

"We wanted to work together to make a type of anti-bullying campaign, you know people see that hockey players fight on the ice and just because its part of the game it doesn't mean they're bullies in real life."

So far the eight-week pup seems to be adapting well to life in the Midwest, making a lot of friends at the Admirals' headquarters, and starting to build a following on his Instagram.

Bender's mom, Mila, and five of his sisters are up for adoption at HAWS.
