Hawaii has reported 8,924 new cases of COVID-19 within the last week, bringing the statewide total to 274,495, according to the Hawaii Department of Health.

Five new deaths were reported, bringing the statewide death toll to 1,451.

The bulk of the cases were reported on Oahu, with 6,475. Hawaii Island is next with 1,102, followed by Maui with 772, Kauai with 443, Molokai with 18, and Lanai with 11.

There were 103 cases from out-of-state visitors.

The statewide vaccination rate stands at 77.5%, with 1,102,342 residents having completed the "primary series"; 1,204,492 residents having had at least one dose; 566,186 residents having had the first booster; and 76,745 residents having had the second booster.

Honolulu County reported the highest vaccination rate among its residents at 88%. Maui County follows with 79% fully vaccinated, Kauai County stands at 78% and Hawaii County at 75%.
