WISCONSIN — A Wisconsin-made app and website is growing with new features to tell you all you need to know about COVID-19 in Wisconsin.

The COVID-19 Wisconsin Connect app was released this past spring, however, additional developments and resources are being added on. The COVID-19 Wisconsin Connect App was created by staff at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and it’s growing as kids return to school.

“The app is really designed to help provide good information so that the people of our state can keep themselves safe during this pandemic time,”UW-Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communication Professor, Mike Wagner said.

The app is branching out with new back to school content to help those college kids returning to campus as well as younger kids with virtual school.

“The goal with the back to school content is really thinking about what information do we have to the site and how can it be packaged for parents sending their kids back to school,” UW Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communication Professor, Dhavan Shah said.

These new features including opening up discussion boards for college students to discuss how they are handling this new normal at school and topics like what buildings are open, and how to access other resources throughout campus, just to name a few.

“This app is only providing evidence that is vetting by scientists, its been vetted by professional fact checkers, the information we are sharing where is the best tup to date information that people can trust,” Wagner said.

A trusted resource not only for college students, but for the entire state of Wisconsin.

The app now also offers full Spanish translation and is free in the app store.
