Mike Woods is a passionate, award-winning, digital journalist who joined Spectrum News in 2020. He loves working at Spectrum News because he tells stories that lead to positive impacts in his community, and it's a community Mike knows well— he has lived in Wisconsin most of his life.

Mike is proud to be a lifer, too; he wants to see his community thrive and prosper, as well as be a safe and welcoming place for everyone. He helps build up his community through his reporting. Mike recalls telling the story of an Appleton family who lost their only son to a rare heart condition when he was in high school. The parents were absolutely devastated. Years later, in their 40s, they found it in their hearts to continue growing their family: They adopted two young children from Siberia. The kids were spared from what would have been tragic lives because of the couple's open arms and welcoming hearts.

When Mike isn't chasing down his next story, you can find him golfing, grabbing a bite at Solea's Mexican Grill, or spending time with his three children, and seven grandkids. They always have a blast together.
