A major outbreak of severe storms is likely from the southern Great Lakes southward to Texas with hail, damaging winds and tornadoes, some of which could be strong and long-tracked.

Winter weather alerts are in effect for the Upper Midwest.

Flood Watches are in effect from the Ohio River Valley south into the Mississippi Valley.

 

High Temperatures Today

Temperatures will stay very warm across southern half of the country. 
Cooler air settles in across the northern half of the Plains.

 

Low Temperatures Tonight

Cooler air will be prevalent tonight across the northern Plains with mild air in the southern states.

 

Precipitation Outlook

An active pattern will continue with a major outbreak of severe storms likely across the southern Great Lakes through the Ohio River Valley and farther south into the Mississippi Valley.   Snow will fall in portions of the Upper Midwest into the northern Great Lakes. A wintry mix will fall in northern New England. Rain and snow will continue in the west with the latest Pacific storm system moving onshore.
