MADISON, Wis.— Two of the 10 politicians in Wisconsin's congressional delegation voted against certifying electors Wedneday.

One that didn't object to the electors was Representative Glenn Grothman (R-WI 6) He saidhe voted to accept the outcome of the election largely because election officials and courts ruled they were legitimate.

“To go down the path, the incredibly dangerous path, of saying the U.S. Congress can change the results the state themselves wanted,” Grothman said. “I mean could you imagine how that would change American history?”

Grothman said the fact that so many republican lawmakers — 138 in the House of Representatives and seven in the Senate — voted against certifying the election.

“I was disappointed so many republicans voted that way, because four years from now they've established the precedent, and I hope democrats don't run with it,” Grothman said.

Wisconsin representatives Tom Tiffany (R-WI 7) and Scott Fitzgerald (R-WI 5) voted against certifying the results.

Grothman also dismissed calls to remove President Donald Trump from office as publicity opportunities.

“I think it's a press release sort of thing,” Grothman said. “First of all, I don't think he should be removed, and secondly, I don't know how long this would take, but I would assume by the time you have committee hearings and expert testimony and whatever, the new president would be sworn in anyway.”
