EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Eau Claire City-County Health Department released a call Wednesday to organizations with healthcare workers who do not work for major healthcare systems.

They’re looking for Phase 1A healthcare workers to vaccinate as Wisconsin continues its battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We know that for Eau Claire County we have a lot of people in the healthcare profession,” says Audrey Boerner with the  Eau Claire City-County Health Department. “We have a lot of folks who have direct care with others - a lot of therapists, nurses, obviously many doctors, pharmacists.”

The county has released a survey to area organizations in hopes of creating a list of healthcare workers who still need the vaccine so the county can coordinate how to get them access to the vaccine.

SSM Health in Madison put out the same call Wednesday.

“With more than 7,000 employees vaccinated and some providers and staff receiving their second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, SSM Health is coordinating with local health departments to vaccinate other frontline health care groups, like dentists and home health care providers,” SSM Health said in a statement.

Boerner says her county is distributing and facilitating the administration of the vaccine as quickly as possible.

“It’s really just dependent on how quickly we get the vaccine to Eau Claire County,” Boerner says. “We just don’t get it all at once, and the state doesn’t get it all at once either.”
