WISCONSIN— The Badger State has the most hospitalizations tied to coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic.
As of Friday, Sept. 25, 543 people are currently in the hospital due to coronavirus. That number includes 147 ICU patients, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association.
376 people are on ventilators or a form of ventilatory equipment.
Friday's numbers set a consecutive four-day record. Thursday, Sept. 24, 530 people in the state were in the hospital. Wednesday, Sept. 23, Wisconsin had 509 people in the hospital due to coronavirus, and on Tuesday, Sept. 22, that number was 474.
This is the highest set of numbers of hospitalizations Wisconsin has seen since April 9, when 446 Wisconsinites were hospitalized. At that time, 196 people were in the ICU, which remains the record high of Wisconsin coronavirus ICU patients. WHA says Wisconsin's 133 hospitals have a total of 1,475 ICU beds, 306 of which could be made immediately available.
6,962 Wisconsinites have been hospitalized due to coronavirus throughout the pandemic, at a 6.3 percent hospitalization rate.
92,366 Wisconsinites who have contracted coronavirus have recovered, and 1,274 have died. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services estimates there are 17,170 active, positive cases of COVID-19.
Wisconsin remains on track for a fourth straight record high this week. As of Friday, the rolling seven-day average sits at 16.5 percent.
Wisconsin DHS reported 2,504 new positive coronavirus cases on Friday, with a daily positivity rate of 16.6 percent.
